5 villages, one valley

Wildschönau, the high valley in the Kitzbühel Alps

Framed by an impressive mountain backdrop, this is a paradise for people and nature. The 5 Wildschönau villages stretch from Niederau, Oberau, Mühltal and Auffach all the way up to Thierbach at an altitude of 1,175 metres. Right in the middle lies our 3-star Hotel Haflingerhof in a peaceful location with excellent access to the "Ski Juwel Wildschönau-Alpbachtal" ski area and the hiking trails of Wildschönau.

The Wildschönau high valley in the Kitzbühel Alps delights visitors in both summer and winter with a wide range of activities for families, riders and active holidaymakers. Modern cable cars also invite you to enjoy summer activities in the Tyrolean mountains. Down in the valley, traditional festivals and Tyrolean hospitality are waiting to be discovered. Wildschönau proves that relaxation and an active holiday are not opposites.

A paradise
for active holidaymakers

Opportunities from 828 to 2,309 metres above sea level

Because Wildschönau is a high valley, the differences in altitude between the valley and the mountains are not too great. This means there are many manageable hiking destinations for nature lovers without alpine experience. Another reason why Wildschönau is the perfect holiday destination for your family holiday. Numerous well-signposted hiking trails are enjoyable even for the little ones, while refreshing streams and cool forests provide variety along the way.

If you want to go a little higher, the modern cable cars will help you out. The Schatzberg here in Auffach is our local mountain and offers hiking fun for young and old right from the doorstep. The gondola takes you comfortably up to just under 1,800 metres above sea level.

What makes Wildschönau unique

No fewer than 4 brass bands regularly invite guests to open-air concerts and, together with more than 10 choirs, provide the soundtrack for the many summer festivals in Wildschönau. At these festivals and many other events, Wildschönau classics such as "Brodakråpfn" are a must. These delicacies are popular with locals and visitors alike.

Speaking of delicacies: the Wildschönau Krautinger is in a class of its own. This schnapps made from turnips is distilled exclusively by local farmers, which is why it is a must on every alpine hut menu.

Multifaceted Wildschönau

You can also experience Tyrolean enjoyment and tradition when visiting the demonstration dairy in Auffach. Award-winning cheeses can be tasted and purchased here. The 1st Tyrolean Wood Museum in Auffach showcases the diversity of wood and takes children and adults alike on a journey through traditional woodworking.

Of course, pure enjoyment is also available in the many serviced alpine huts of Wildschönau, where homemade delicacies are served. That makes hiking even more fun for children.
