Adventure-filled Wildschönau

Tips for your summer holiday in Tyrol

There is plenty to discover in the Wildschönau in summer. Those seeking relaxation and adrenaline junkies alike will get their money’s worth here: a rich selection of excellent restaurants, scattered throughout the extensive hiking network, offer dreamy views and culinary delights.

Exciting courses in the high ropes park are a highlight for family and friends. Even better than on the extensive mountain bike trails, the Wildschönau can only be explored from a bird’s-eye view: by tandem flight or paraglider, the adventurous are rewarded with a unique perspective.

Hiker

Swimming, e-biking, a special hiking programme for families as well as numerous playgrounds, wildlife watching, mini golf, the Wildschönau children’s programme “Dragon Club” and of course horse riding add variety to your holiday here in Auffach. Let yourself be inspired by the diversity of the Wildschönau on your riding and family holiday too!

Mountain hiking

Mountains

Step by step towards great happiness while hiking in the Wildschönau. The extensive network of hiking trails surrounding your 3-star Hotel Haflingerhof in the Wildschönau offers something for every type of walker: in the valley you will find pleasant paths from village to village, including to the natural gorge of the “Kundler Klamm”. For ambitious hiking holidaymakers, there is a wide choice of mountains from 1,500 metres with rustic, serviced alpine huts.

Experienced hikers are rewarded with picturesque views at 2,300 metres above sea level. Thanks to the summer cable cars, even little summit conquerors can enjoy easy hiking with lift assistance. Mountaineering and climbing for anyone sure-footed and free from vertigo guarantee unforgettable impressions overlooking the imposing Kitzbühel Alps.

Biking

Mountainbike Wildschönau

With a tailwind through the Wildschönau. Whether classic mountain biking or speedy e-biking, there is plenty to discover on cycling tours. A constantly growing range of downhill routes makes MTB hearts beat faster. Relaxed e-bike rides are possible on practically all trails, and many inns also offer charging stations.

Biking is fun for the whole family. Here in the valley, even the little ones can keep up with the grown-ups. And with the free WildschönauCard, the children’s programme “Dragon Club” is free of charge. The kids can enjoy llama hikes, the farm or swimming from Monday to Friday, while the parents treat themselves to some time together mountain biking or e-biking.

Museums

Old farming house

Culture and tradition in the Wildschönau. The “z-Bach” mountain farming museum in the Wildschönau district of Oberau, the 1st Tyrolean Wood Museum in Auffach and the show mine in Thierbach offer insights into long-forgotten times with more than 1,000 exhibits.

The weekly markets are particularly popular, where you can buy not only freshly baked Tyrolean farmhouse bread and other delicacies, but also handcrafted items.

Paragliding

Paragliding

Have you also fallen for the Wildschönau? Thanks to the good thermals, the Markbachjoch in Niederau is an extremely popular flying area for paragliders. In addition to paragliding courses, the Wildschönau flight school also offers tandem flights for spontaneous visitors.

The alpine huts on the Markbachjoch offer a great vantage point to watch the busy flying activity. That means children, dogs and the less daring can also share in the paragliding adventure and enjoy a summer’s day with Wildschönau specialities.

Sightseeing train

Bummelbahn

Fancy a fun ride through the Wildschönau high valley? The routes of the “Erlebnis Bummelbahn” sightseeing train run to the most remote corners of the Wildschönau. The train stops directly in front of your Haflingerhof in Auffach and takes you to popular excursion destinations such as the Schönanger Alm or the idyllic mountain village of Thierbach.

The natural gorge of the “Kundler Klamm” is a particularly popular destination on hot summer days.

Dragon Club

There is plenty to experience at the Wildschönau kids’ club! Children aged 5 to 12 can look forward to an adventure-filled children’s programme in nature at the Dragon Club. Relaxed barbecues around the self-built fire pit, gold panning in the Wildschönau stream, a visit to the “fairy tale forest” and llama hikes are just some of the programme highlights. New adventures await every day from Monday to Friday.

The best part? The children’s programme is free of charge for holders of the WildschönauCard! And as a guest of the Haflingerhof, you receive the WildschönauCard free of charge on your arrival in Auffach.
